Snow Symmetry
about Katja Louisa Stonewood
The human body, elementary particles or ice crystals: reality around us unfolds itself in symmetries. Even when man creates — like in architecture, music or literature — we do not assemble things in simple juxtapositions, but turn elements into a new whole on the basis of many different operations. Throughout the ages, in the arts, all kinds of mirror transformations have always been very fruitful to invent new aesthetic solutions.
Being a versatile artist, Katja Louisa Stonewood lets herself be carried along the erratic paths of her intuition, where the finished product is never her sole goal. Through an ongoing process of interaction with color, light, sound and material, Katja lets herself be enchanted by the ever expanding play of experiment. Where in this pictures she’s playing, like nature itself, with symmetry.
