Snow Art
The creative side of snow
As well as being a wonderful source of both artistic and vital inspiration, in fact snow is often itself an art maker — or artist, whether you prefer. Just try to observe all the geometries hiding in the snowflakes and revealing themselves through some great natural sculptures, once landed.
On the other hand, there are people like Simon Beck and his suggestive snow art, a method he calls a “kind of reverse orienteering.” He first designs his patterns on the computer and, once in the snow, uses an orienteering compass and a measuring tape to lay out the design. Finally, he picks up a clothes line and a central anchor to complete the circles and curves. But Simon is certainly not the only one to experiment with this kind of art.
