about Jean Jullien

Jean Jullien is the widely-adored French illustrator whose incredible popularity stems from his clear enthusiasm, nay obsession, with interpreting the world around him. From worldwide political commentary to doodling on windows, walls, tables and objects around him, his work is instantly recognisable, inimitable and holds a purity that only truly can be borne from true passion for his craft.

Accompanying Jean’s effortless, humorous style is his dedication: the man juggles hundreds of commissions simultaneously and is nothing short of a wonder to work with.

Born in Cholet and lived in Nantes, Jean completed a graphic design degree in Quimper, before moving to London. He has since graduated from Central Saint Martins and from the Royal College of Art. His practice ranges from illustration to photography, video, costume, installations, books, posters and clothing to create a coherent yet eclectic body of work.

He created the viral image, Peace for Paris, on the occasion of the series of terrorist attacks that took place on 13 November 2015 in Paris, and his graphic response to the Charlie Hebdo shootings was one of the most-shared images relating to the tragedy that struck the magazine office on 7 January 2015.
