It’s the second look that unveils the revealing detail,
never the first

By transforming set-ups often used in print ads into smart and explosive combinations, Maurizio Di Iorio masters the art of color blocking and distinctive textures. He likes hard light and contrasts, a style that hundreds of photographers have had before, when you only took a film and made the Cibachromes that gave a plastic yield to the photos. “It’s that with the advent of digital everything is flattened with increasingly faded colors. Now I only shoot in digital but I tried to create a profile made of bright colors, pop like those you see in the photos of the past. I find this whole tendency of the neutral to be unbearable, partly because it tends to make thousands of photographers look too much like each other.”

Based in Italy, Maurizio worked for the likes of Vogue, Elle, Wallpaper*, Vice and Bloomberg Businessweek. He’s the founder of DISTUBER Magazine.
