The Imperfect

about Al Margen

There are drawings born on the edge. Almost by chance. They are born on the side, out of the important. Not to please or be seen, they are born not to be finished. They live with deletions and don’t even deserve the effort of being erased. They are children of boredom, nonconformity or anger. They are the unwanted children of the pencil.

They are just sketches of something that could have been better, but they were abandoned. They are an unfulfilled promise, a truncated project. They are the representation of discarded ideas. They are the garbage of the subconscious.

But they are more visceral and sincere than other drawings, because they have no obligation to please. Because they were born to not be seen. Because they were born without aesthetics. Because they were born only by an impulse and nothing else. Because they were born to annoy, since they show the imperfect. But they don’t care. Because they live on the sidelines.

From Buenos Aires, Argentina, Al Margen is an author of these drawings.
