Playing Leaves
about Daniela Iride Murgia
A leaf felt that the wind had become colder
and something was going to change for her too
The objects and illustrations created by Daniela Iride Murgia combine a range of media, with a particular predilection for embroidery and patchwork on paper, canvass and fabric. The whole consists of parts drawn in ink and then assembled. She produces her work through almost purely manual techniques, the result is a blaze of fairy autumnal notes which always amaze and bring you back playing leaves, once again.
Visual artist with a degree in Oriental Art and a Master in Illustration, Daniela has worked in contemporary art for years — among the various artists with whom she has collaborated, Jason Rhoades, Gerard Byrne, Olafur Eliasson, Elmgreen & Dragset, Mark Lewis, Ming Wong. Her creations have been displayed at the gift shops of various museums as The Danish Museum of Art and Design and Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, in Copenhagen, and Bookshop Electa, Biennale, in Venice.
