House in Montalcino

A new old building in Tuscany

When the owners purchased the lot, there were a number of abandoned old buildings on it, including a mill with a water wheel and a church. All surrounded by the natural beauty of Tuscany. A perfect starting point for architects Marco Pignattai and Gerda Vossaert and light designer Davide Groppi who restored the place, aiming to maintain its original structure and appearance while adding all the comforts essential in a summer home today.

The two-floor home contains a kitchen, living room and bedrooms, while the basement contains a swimming pool, a gym and a wine cellar. The old church on the property has been renovated and converted into a guesthouse. The lighting is designed to invite and welcome people to various spaces in the home, embracing the house as a whole and maintaining the building’s original nature and heritage. Maybe that’s exactly what you dream sometimes.
