Château de Beauvoir

about Claire Basler

Although for many artists, especially those of the past, it has never been so important, for some sensitive souls, inspiration is closely linked to the places where they live. Especially if they are so enchanting to catch our eyes and imagination. Claire Basler leaves and works in Château de Beauvoir, a 13th century castle in Central France, where nature blends in with indoor spaces, in a delightful, suggestive way.

Born in Vincennes, France, in 1960, and studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, she found her inspiration at the Louvre, by spending hours around the masterpieces of the museum’s collections, especially the ones of 18th Century French artists such as Watteau, which remain a point of reference for her own work. Anyway, her true inspiration seems to come from nature:

“I like daisies, fragile and passionate poppies, breezes, wind, grace, gentleness and its force, storms, the mystery of still waters. The vast sky in the puddles that line a dirt road and the tree that forces me to be silent, patient. There are magnificent ones at Beauvoir.
