Horny Places

Second lives in the bathrooms

“Masturbating at work is more common than you think”…

As well as for some of our most intimate and very common moments which, next to forthcoming duties, get shorter, so essential and enjoyable, apparently masturbating would be part of this mechanism, too. It looks very much as if closed places as schools or offices, in addition to a lot of frustration and various diseases, encourage more and more human beings to confine themselves to a bathroom, in order to restore order in their minds — and bodies.

According to a recent survey by Time Out New York, 39 per cent of office workers admit to masturbating in the office john — slightly more than the 31 per cent of men that admitted to rubbing one out in 2012 according to Glamour. Men and women, gay or straight, are all willing to admit they’ve indulged in some self-love in their workplace washroom stall for various reasons: “If I’m really hungover at work, masturbating helps me feel better,” one practitioner told Time Out while another admitted “I’m just a horny lady”.

Researchers at the University of Michigan say masturbating on the regular boosts endorphins and hormones which lowers cortisol — a stress hormone — in the body. And women who frequently masturbate are believed to have higher self-confidence than those who shy away from self-pleasure.

It’s so beneficial that Mark Sergeant, a senior lecturer in psychology at Nottingham Trent University, suggests workers should take masturbation breaks as a motivational reward for completing a long list of to-dos, Metro.co.uk reports.

In 2009, on the occasion of his videoclip for Vitalic’s song, Second Lives, Julien Henry carries out some study and find out about what could happen in the bathrooms of a multinational company:

“When I received the piece, the image of the poster Toilet.cam — a poster with some people, a bit of crowd inside the toilets — came back to me immediately. A chain of funny or pathetic situations that happen in the bathrooms. To put it short, I spent four days in front of the door of a toilet”.
