Skellie – A girl can dream
A project by Dana Herlihey
What started as an inside joke between co-workers has become one of the funniest Instagram accounts around. Social Media Manager Dana Herlihey couldn’t resist creating an Instagram profile for the Halloween skeleton she and her coworkers used to prank each other. Three months after her first post she’s still posing and photographing Skellie and crafting her personality.
“For me, it’s a satire of Instagram users in general and the kind of things they place importance on. How serious is it if a skeleton can do the same thing and become an Instagram celebrity? With a lot of what she does, people are commenting, ‘Oh! Skellie is just like me!’ or ‘I want Skellie’s life!’. I guess there’s a degree of relatability in what she’s doing. A girl can dream“.
