A project by Alexey Kondakov
Inspired by the paintings of Cesar van Everdingen, Alexey created The Daily Life of Gods, a series featuring images such as William-Adolphe Bouguereau’s Nymphs and Satyr, or Cesar van Everdingen’s Bacchus, dropped into modern-day life. So, you can see Bouguereau’s Song of the Angels appears to take place on an empty subway car while a pair of men from Holbein’s famous The Ambassadors are transported to the table of a seedy bar.
“I realized that the heroes of these masterpieces were simply looking to spend quality time — together —, like us”.
Alexey is from Ukraine. Many of the pieces are set in Kiev.
