about Malika Favre

The imagery from popular culture — news and advertising — meets the optical illusions of Visual Art, as many say about the minimal style of Malika Favre, french artist based in London and always obsessed by the female body: “I loved curves and organic shapes probably as much as I loved colours”.

London found beauty in the simplicity of her illustrations, so that her unmistakable style has established her as one of the UK’s most sought after graphic artists: “I developed my style over the years by pairing my illustrations more and more until it became some sort of manifesto”.
A striking lesson in the use of positive/negative space and colour.

People, things, books, encounters are what feed her inspiration: “I would say that Paris must have influenced my work a lot as apparently all my illustrations look very french and I haven’t lived there for 10 years.
Overall, I am influenced by beauty: from a building to a street market. As long as there are colors or interesting lines, I am drown by it”.

Malika’s clients include The New Yorker, Vogue, BAFTA, Sephora and Penguin Books, amongst many others.
